This tip is not what you could call a handyman tip other than that it is handy to know.

I came upon this mosquito solution by accident

I don’t remember when I put 2 + 2 together but I’m really glad I did. I have tested it, I don’t know how many times, and it is highly effective.

Just open the window!

Yep, that’s the Boise Handyman Lou fix! Just open a couple of windows. Make sure they are screened of course so you don’t invite in more mosquitoes.

Why are pesky mosquitoes attracted to an open window?

I don’t know. Maybe it has to do with the subtle air currents there, going out or coming in, that those mosquitoes can sense. Whatever is going on, it doesn’t matter; it just works. And, once they are on the screen, it is very easy to kill them.

How long does it take?

The time involved varies quite a bit and is dependent, I think, on how close the mosquitoes’ hiding place is to the open window/door.

It also seems dependent on the time of day. Early morning seems to be the best time. And, before the sun shines directly on that open window.

Sometimes it takes a couple of mornings before those pesky mosquitoes land on the screen so patience is key.

And, lastly, an added benefit is that this solution does not require any toxic insect sprays.
